BattleTech: Modular Table Alpha Test #1 & Official MUL Site!

First of all The Topps Company released the Official Master Unit List site yesterday (SkyHigh, their lead developer, was awesome enough to visit my site and personally thank me for the bloggable hoopla I gave them about their Coming Soon page). To be honest I’m both honored and humbled to be singled out.

I volunteered my coding skills if he needed any help, as it sure looks like a MVC PHP or Ruby site judging by the URLs and Flow Controllers, but I know how it’s harder to get help than just do it yourself.

My alpha test of my board modules look like a home run… I’ve got a big day tomorrow so I’m not sure if I’ll get around to actually starting the beta cuts on the real board.

Not bad for a bad cut with a crappy knife!

I had a smallish scrap piece of blue foam to test with…. This is a good sign!

My next biggest roadblock is how to draw on the hexes on the hex modules accurately and (most importantly) easily. Their very nature makes it impossible to make a full template. What I was thinking was making a template with a hole in each intersection so I can make a mark and go in behind with a ruler and sharpie and draw the lines manually. This is tedious, but really the easiest way I can think of for now.
