Without a model in my hands get ideas of how the heck this is really going to look on the table I’ve thrown together (mark 1) a quick diagram of what I’m looking to do.
What I really like about this is the jagged Flash Gordon moviesque fins which will be made out of plasticard or foamcore (which I’ll have to create 18-21 for 6-7 models, but that’ll be fine as they’ll all be the same).
I’ve moved the gunner out of the gun-well and put the pilot there. I’ve moved the Dark Lance to a mount point beneath the nose as well.
How this works in reality–no telling.
The biggest problem I see right now is the placement of the flying stand as the bottom fin goes directly beneath the hull. Since we’re not allowed to cut the freakin’ flying bases to a sane size after conversions, I’d have to mount it at the fin and it’ll be flying 10″ in the air…. yay..
