Rough week this week….so I’ll just do some casual thought blogging.

Family first, toys second.

Sorry it’s taken me so long to get an update, it’s been a rough school and work week for Kim and I’ve had to take care of Cam a bit more than usual. I was going to work on some models tonight, but that appears to not be happening either due to some company coming over.

If I have the time tonight I’ll be placing the dark lance magnets on both weapons and mounts tonight and doing some sanding to get prepared for primering. I have a few thoughts in my head going for my Archon’s battle barge that will require two raiders and lots of extra bits from other armies (and craploads of green stuff) and a few ‘erotic’ minis from Hassle-Free Minis (Warning: NSFW) or something similar. I won’t need to worry about that model until next year though (as we’ll be stuck below 1250 until February).

Dark Eldar Army Random Thoughts

Archon/Dracon: YES, PLEASE! I’ll be using another Dark Elf model as my Archon though….although I’ll probably be dropping to a Dracon for the 1250 and lower lists…so conversion time. Incubi: YES PLEASE! I’m going to keep the Incubi as is for the most part. I’m half tempted to re-pose a few of them just to break up the monotony so that each one is unique (If I recall it’ll only be 4 or 5 re-poses). Haemonculus: Love ’em (model is hit and miss depending on which one). Not sure what to do with them yet. ** ** Wyches: YES PLEASE! Love the rules and point costs–maybe 1 point high. I adore some of the models I hate some of the models. I’m sort of a purist. All my Wyches will be females only partially because a comment was made on Friday: “Bring it. I’m not afraid of those whores.” I don’t like the male models anyways. I’ve got two boxes of Dark Eldar Witches for conversion coming to help fill in the ranks for the first wave of Wyches. I would like to see rending for Wych weapons instead of halving the weapon skill when attacks are made against them. Mandrakes: Love the idea… Hate the models, hate the rules. Why not just give us Assassins, such as Warhammer Fantasy Dark Elves or Imperium? Too expensive to not be able to kill anything other than guardsmen… too squishy to tie up units until the rest of the army joins in the melee. Warp Beasts: I’ve got a few, but won’t use them this incarnation since I’m Raider heavy.

Grotesques: Won’t use them this incarnation

** ** Warriors: required, Hate the models (I fixed that!), like the rules…probably a *smidge* bit pricey on points compared to newer codexes. Raiders: hate the model (I fixed that!)l, like the rules, like the point costs (again, perhaps a tad bit pricey point costs compared to current codexes)

Hellions: I love the concept. Hate the riders. Love the scooter. Hate the point cost. I won’t use them in this incarnation of my list. Reaver Jetbikes: Love, Love, Love the models, however the rider needs a bit of work. I like the rules (better than Crafworld Eldar jetbikes). Perhaps the point costs are about 10-20% too high…. since turbo-boost is now standard with all bikes. ** ** Talos: I don’t think it’s as effective as a Ravager for the slot, but I do like the rules and model. Ravager: love the point costs, love the rules, hate the model (see raider, I fixed that!). Scourges: Hate the models. Overcosted and worthless for their points. Need to chop almost half of the point cost (to 8-11 points per model) and allow 1-3 units per heavy slot.
