I’ve been playing Space Wolves since 1994…bing there I said it. At the time I played a Terminiator Heavy powerhouse supported by a few Long Fangs (I love Cyclone Missile Launchers, I’m so glad they don’t suck again!, but I sure as heck still miss my salvo fire sometimes).
As you may have noticed in my preview post last night that I’ve got a few Grey Hunters and an old Space Wolf Captain (which will being used as a Wolf Guard Battle Leader). This is only the tip of the iceberg of what’s coming over the next few weeks. I’ve got about 20 Blood Claws that I put in the paint vat a year ago, however they’re not stripping very cleanly and it may be a loss…. I’ll do my best to recover the special weapons.
Right now I’m going to concentrate on 2 troops and an HQ painted and assembled by Friday. I don’t care about the points I’m just looking to repaint an army.
I’ve decided to use my airbrush exclusively for basecoating everything and I’ll be taking some pointers from the Beasts of War/Awesome Paint Job Blood Raven tutorial (and was the inspiration for me to work on Space Marines, by the way). I want the whole look to be clean and smooth, and the airbrush allows me to do both fairly easily and quickly.
I’m hoping to start a test model tonight–probably a (failed) Black Reach model (which you’ll notice a few of those in the pictures from yesterday) or two.
The biggest difficulty I’ll have is finding Transfers for Logan’s Great Company, I remember looking a year ago and I didn’t see the Howling Moon Wolf anywhere (which is my favorite and the reason I started Logan’s Company originally), but I’m not opposed to transferring to the “Star Stalker” Wolf-King version of Logan if it becomes too difficult to acquire or print the old symbol.
