My red meat fasting is coming to an end.

As some of you may know I’ve not had red meat (with the exception of a camping weekend earlier this month) since mid July. I did this mainly to prove to myself that I can go without steaks, hamburgers, etc if I have to. As some of you may know my family has a history of heart disease and my father has recently had a couple of heart attacks. I wanted to prove to myself (one of the biggest red-meat eaters I knew) that I didn’t have to have to depend on that for my staple of diet. I consider my test for the last three and a half months a success, but it’s affecting my social life some.

At the end of this month I’m dropping that self-imposed fasting since I have sufficiently succeeded in the proof-of-concept lifestyle change. I’m not going to go all out and binge eat red meat, but I’ll enjoy the occasional steak now and again as well as grilled hamburgers.

There might be some who questioned if I should have tried a vegetarian diet. Sorry, my metabolism doesn’t work like that. You’d have too see my canines to know that I’m an omnivore with (*cough* bloody) carnivore tendencies.

Just wanted to give an update for those friends and family who might read this blog.
